Northshore Families Helping Families

The mission of Northshore Families Helping Families is to provide individuals with disabilities the services, information, resources and support needed to positively enhance their independence, productivity and inclusion in St. Tammany, Washington, Tangipahoa, St. Helena, and Livingston Parishes.

NFHF is a family-driven resource center for individuals with disabilities, their families, and children and youth with special healthcare needs. NFHF provides information, education and training, family-to-family support, and numerous resources to families who have a loved one with a disability. Some examples of resources provided include a lending library, information regarding specific diagnoses, educational webinars, advocacy, legislation, information on health services, and more. We empower families by providing workshops on topics such as IEPs, 504, IDEA, Louisiana laws, disability waivers, and offer an informative newsletter addressing needs. Staff working at NFHF have a relationship with the disability community. They have a disability themselves or have a family member with a disability or special healthcare need. This peer-to-peer support connection is a unique perspective allowing us to understand the day-to-day challenges and successes our families face.
