Our Beginnings

In 1999 Cynthia Marlette, together with a few key individuals from the greater Coeur d’Alene area, expressed a concern regarding the trend of “praise bands” replacing traditional and sacred works in the church setting.  Because these sacred works not only bring joy to the listener but also challenge and uplift the performers, Cynthia expressed a desire to organize a group which would continue this tradition of choral sacred and classical music.  Such an organization would not only keep these works alive for future generations, but give its members an opportunity to grow and develop their talents through their participation.  The Northwest Sacred Music Chorale was born and recently celebrated its tenth season.  To begin its second decade of existence Cynthia once again conducted the NWSMC in the Fall of 2011, performing Joseph Fitzmartin’s Concert Mass with full orchestral accompaniment to standing-room only audiences and the composer in attendance. 2013 - 2014 Season
Welcome to the 2013-2014 concert season of the Northwest Sacred Music Chorale.  Again, this year’s musical journey with our three main concerts are all at the fabulous Kroc Center in Coeur d'Alene. As our attendance continues to grow, we once again want to thank you so much for your support of our group.
