Adaptive Music at Note-Able Music Therapy Services

Providing Access to Music for Everyone!

The Need

What would you do if your daughter’s dearest wish was to be in dance class, but you were told she wasn’t welcome because of her disability?

What would you say if you or your loved one was labeled “unteachable” by a music teacher?

What do you think it might feel like to perform for cheering crowds if you’ve never performed in your life, because as an adult with a disability, no one ever thought you had any talent or gifts to share?

On average, 20% of the population has some sort of disability or 1 out of 5 people and as we age, disability becomes a reality for almost all of us. And yet we exclude people with all forms of disability from participating in fundamental parts of life, including music and dance.

The Opportunity

At Note-Able Music Therapy Services, we provide adaptive music and dance opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to participate fully in music in community with others. We know that each of us has a voice that deserves to be heard and that we all have gifts to share with the community, regardless of ability.

We provide group classes, individual music therapy, and adaptive music lessons in order to provide each person a way to express themselves, build friendships and social skills, have fun, and experience a sense of belonging that comes with participation in music with others.

How you can help!

Our programs are funded in part through low-cost fees, as well as grants, fundraising events, and individual donations. We need your support to keep these programs accessible to everyone.
