Not In Our Town has been promoting innovative ways to stand up to hate and bullying for more than 20 years. Through documentary films, online resources, social media, and on-the-ground training for educators, law enforcement and community activists, NIOT provides inspiration, motivation, and tools for change.

Stop Hate Together

In the aftermath of one of the most divisive elections in recent history, and as hate and intolerance rise across the country, you know what's at stake. Not In Our Town needs your support more than ever.

With 20 years of experience working with communities to prevent hate violence, we are focused on solutions and supporting local, on-the-ground action. Communities and schools across the country are asking for our films, online resources and action plans as they stand up for their neighbors. We can do something about the bigotry that's harming our children, our community, and our country, but we can't do it without you.

WE'RE ASKING COURAGEOUS PEOPLE LIKE YOU TO MAKE A DONATION TO NOT IN OUR TOWN TODAY.

Here's what we do:

  • Respond to local communities that need help launching Not In Our Town Actions.
  • Send film teams and advisors to communities in crisis.
  • Strengthen hate crime reporting and prevention.
  • Share our films with hundreds of communities.
  • Mobilize and convene our national network of leaders.
  • Continue partnering with the NBA Golden State Warriors in the Pledge to Stop Hate and Bullying.
  • Spread the Not In Our School Guide to make school campuses more inclusive and identity safe.
  • Present new films and tools to help communities implement 21st Century Community Oriented Policing.

While NIOT's programs are national in scope, our roots are here in the Bay Area. NIOT's K-12 initiative, Not In Our School, was launched in Palo Alto, and has grown to help more than 250,000 students in 26 states stand up to bullying. Our Not On Our Campus provided training and support to San Jose State University students in the aftermath of racist incidents there.

Motivating change through documentary storytelling is a core strategy of Not In Our Town. Last year, NIOT films screened over 3,000 times in communities across the U.S. Our Bay Area screening partners included the Human Rights Commission, Grace Cathedral, Second Act Theater, SFPD, the San Francisco Interfaith Council, San Jose State University, the India Community Center in Milpitas, and Google.

With your support, we can do more! Join the Warriors, Not In Our Town, and thousands of students and community leaders who are taking a stand against hate and bullying.
