Nurses for Newborns

At Nurses for Newborns, we believe that every baby should be as safe and healthy as possible and their families strong and confident in their care. Healthy pregnancy and infancy build the foundation for a lifetime of wellness. When babies are born too early or too small or in rough conditions, the dream of a healthy, vibrant life can be shattered before they have a chance to have a first birthday.

When NFN Registered Nurse Case Manager Karen*, visited Baby Ben* for the first time, she noticed that he wasn't cooing and babbling the way most babies do at 6 months old. She noticed he really wasn't smiling or turning his head to the sounds of his sisters playing and in fact, he spent a lot of the time crying. Karen was able to contact Baby Ben's pediatrician and schedule testing, which found that Baby Ben had hearing loss.

With Nurse Karen's help, Ben's mom was able to find a Pediatric Audiologist who fitted Ben with hearing aids. Karen also helped the family find a Speech-Language Pathologist, and three months later, Baby Ben is beginning to talk and absolutely loves giggling at his sisters as they dance and play around him. Baby Ben's mom is thrilled to see his new sense of self and happiness, but the best part, she says with a big smile, " ......................is knowing he can hear me say I Love You."
