We value youth and their place in a challenging, diverse society. We commit ourselves to building a better community for youth where they can be cultivated into new leaders committed to change.

HISTORY

Nevada Youth Network was founded in 2013. The founding board members saw fit to create an organization whose sole purpose is to foster the growth and independence of young people within communities of color. Our Community Based Model is based on the following three principals:

  • Provide educational and recreational support to low-income youth
  • Empower youth and young adults to make informed choices related to their physical, mental and socio-emotional well-being.
  • Increase service and resource capacity of community organizations who directly serve youth.

OUR GOALS

Life Skills- Develop effective life and social skills in youth to secure their transition into adulthood.

Health Empowerment- Empower youth to make informed choices related to their physical, mental and socio-emotional well-being.

Cultural Awareness- Expand and enhance knowledge and understanding of culture and the arts.

Civic Service and Activism- Train youth to become entrepreneurial leaders in the community through enterprise and service.

OUR COMMUNITY CENTER

Sherman Gardens Youth Center-
In partnership with the Housing Authority interns run a youth center in the Sherman Gardens Housing development. Four days a week interns provide recreational activities and tutoring for the youth of the neighborhood giving them a positive alternative and empowering them with skills that will help guide them throughout life.
