How can being an avid outdoorsman and founding a thriving non-profit be linked?

Oak Mountain Ministries, Inc. was born when our founder began feeding apples and discarded produce to deer in his wooded yard in Shelby Co. The donations of discarded produce grew until he had more than the deer could consume so he began to give the usable produce to local shelters.

This humble beginning has grown into a ministry that gives away furniture, food, and clothing to our clients.  Food drives supply our food pantry.  Donations of clothing and usable household items stock our warehouse.  Funding for client support with utility bills and housing is through donations and grants as well as through pledges from
local churches. 

Our organization is staffed by over 300 volunteers that deliver food to shut-ins, deliver furniture, man the warehouse, stock the food pantry, sort and organize
clothing and assist clients.  These faithful volunteers allow Oak Mountain Mission to save our monetary resources
to be given to clients.

We take referrals from area domestic violence shelters, homeless shelters and social service agencies.  These
pre-screened clients are given the needed items from our available supplies.  Everything in our warehouse belongs to God and is given to qualified, screened clients free of charge.
