Since 1979 we have empowered small business owners in the Bay Area, beginning in Oakland and expanding to serve the nine Bay Area counties. Through our core services we help small businesses EXPAND in size, INCREASE their profits, and REACH their goals. We are honored to work with successful, innovative, and community-oriented entrepreneurs. We believe in the power of entrepreneurship to transform lives and communities. In the last 10 years we closed 500 loans that totaled more than $29,000,000. Our borrowers have created thousands of new jobs in the Bay Area.

This Spring,   in collaboration with a coalition of partners including Anewamerica, we are launching Fresh Carts Silicon Valley. Based on New York’s Green Carts program and led by The Health Trust (THT), Fresh Carts Silicon Valley will increase access to healthy foods while creating income-generating opportunities for low-income neighborhoods by training local residents to own and operate their own mobile fruit and vegetable carts. Vendors will sell everything from tropical fruits such as mangoes and papayas to more common items like green beans, carrots and apples. The aim of the initiative which launches in 3 San Jose target neighborhoods is to alleviate some of the health disparities caused by food deserts while creating jobs for low-income individuals.
