O'CONNOR HOUSE
The historic value of the adobe home of retired U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor is undeniable. But the true value of O’Connor House is not rooted in its past, but in the role it will play in the future of Arizona and the nation. At a time when we need ethical and inclusive leadership to address significant economic, social, and political issues, O’Connor House offers both a historic place and a process of problem solving and action. In the tradition of Justice O'Connor, O’Connor House has become home to a broad-based effort to drive civic action and an ambitious public policy agenda through inclusive consensus-building. O’Connor House convenes people with divergent points of view to discuss issues, facilitate consensus, and craft non-partisan, actionable solutions to vital public issues, in an environment of mutual respect and shared purpose.
OUR VISION:
To create an Arizona where important policy decisions affecting our future are made through a process of civil discussion, critical analysis of facts, and informed participation of all citizens.
OUR MISSION:
To continue Justice Sandra Day O’Connor’s lifetime work of solving important social, economic, and political problems through civil talk leading to civic action.
OUR PROCESS:
The result of the O'Connor process is not to write reports or make recommendations. It is to build partnerships and collaborations within our state and the nation to implement solutions. The O'Connor process can be replicated in organizations, communities and governments nationally and internationally to promote civil discussion and collaborative problem solving.
OUR CORE VALUES:
Non-partisan, objective, fact-based, Inclusive, collaborative, civil, trustworthy
