Music During a Quiet Time: An OCO Musical Gift to Our Community

The Oconomowoc Chamber Orchestra (OCO) welcomes you to be part of a Virtual Online Musical Gift to our Lake Country Community. This is a time when most live concerts have been silenced, and live music for both the performers and the audience is not possible. Let's bring a spirit of harmony and synthesis to our area. We can do it with your help!

In April of this year, an OCO Concert featuring a Beethoven Symphony, a Piano Soloist performing Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, Group Ballroom Dancers and a Solo Couple dancing to Leroy Anderson's Blue Tango, as well as a Piano Masterclass by our soloist were in the final stages of pre-performance preparations. Then we experienced 'Lock Down'. Everything came to a halt.

Fortunately, the Chamber Orchestra has been working hard in the meantime, to release the OCO 2020 Chatfield Award Tribute video, and film the Award Presentation to the Festival of the Arts Organization, presented by Mayor Magnus. It has also enabled the release a larger than life sized Wall Design including the 10 year history of the Oconomowoc Arts Center, the OCO and the Imagine A Day Art Gallery. The design includes information about the 5 OCO Lake Country Themed Commissions, shows the signature 'Fanfare' Theme, and is the new home of the Chatfield Instruments historical presentation. Time lapse videography was taken, and the video of the Installation will be out soon. 

The OCO Musicians however, have not been playing. It's time to bring them together again and make some music! With your help, the OCO has plans to execute a remote digital concert to be released in December of this year. The repertoire will feature a performance of the 'Fanfare for Lake Country' and some holiday favorites. The musicians will be recorded in their home environments, and the performances will be combined via  video editing, to create a fresh, colorful, vital and exciting performance. 

The OCO will perform an online concert and enable the recording to be available afterwards on YouTube, it will continue to upgrade its website presence with quicker access to recordings, information and beautiful OCO photos and videos, and will work to release 2 previous performance recordings online. Outreach of this and all OCO Recordings of Concerts and Award Tribute videos will be shared with those in Assisted Living and other community members who do not have access to concerts or the internet.
