OFOAM's Mission is to bring live music to Ogden and provide free music education opportunities for youth. Annually, we host the amazing Ogden Music Festival each spring at Weber County's Fort Buenaventura; snOwFOAM, a winter concert at Peery's Egyptian Theater and an Ogden school-based educational outreach. Kids are always free to everything we do!
Exposure to music at a young age can change one’s life. There is significant research to support that kids who play musical instruments do better in all walks of life. Children and youth 16 and younger get in FREE to all OFOAM events, and OFOAM keeps ticket costs comparatively low for a high quality 3-day family-friendly festival experience with camping on site, and outstanding line-ups that appeal to diverse, all-ages audiences.
OFOAM is an all-volunteer non-profit organization that contributes significantly to the vibrant arts and recreation community in Ogden. Over 60% of our operating budget is for artist fees, and your donation will help us directly with production costs. Far from being observers, attendees become active participants in the OFOAM Festival Community through kids activities, vending, sponsorship, volunteerism, and campground jams. Beyond the music, people also fall in love with Weber County's stunning natural beauty and recreational opportunities. OFOAM festivals become annual traditions for families and friends.
The Ogden Music Festival is the weekend after Memorial Day at Fort Buenaventura in Ogden, Utah and has quickly earned the reputation as the premiere bluegrass and acoustic music festival in Utah. The diverse, multi-genre festival provides attendees exposure to many artists and many types of music including bluegrass, blues, folk, and old-time. This festival has become the home of the Utah State Instrument Championships, and winners receive automatic entry into the National Instrument Championships in Winfield, KS. Educational instrument and band workshops are led by mainstage artists and festival attendees can bring their own instruments to join in campground jam sessions. Kid’s activities include music-themed and other arts and crafts, recreation, a hands-on musical instrument “petting zoo” and a chance to sing on the OFOAM stage. On the Monday following the festival weekend is a free-to-the-public educational outreach event geared towards youth at the Downtown Ogden Amphitheater including mainstage artists. To ensure continued support for young musicians, each year OFOAM recognizes a member of the Ogden community who promotes live music and mentors other musicians with the Don Baker Award. Past winners include Brad Wheeler, The Kap Brothers, Scott Iverson, Dicky Martinez, Joe McQueen, Ron Atencio, Ted Shupe.
snOwFOAM is a winter event that showcases a national touring artist and consists of two parts: an Ogden school-based educational outreach with the artist and a ticketed performance at Peery's Egyptian Theater. In 2017, OFOAM hosted Americana musicians Amy LaVere and Will Sexton for an educational outreach at the Ogden High School Auditorium, including music and drama students from Ogden City middle and high schools, St. Joseph's, DaVinci, Imagine Music and Music Village. Following the outreach, the artists performed at Peery's Egyptian Theater at a reasonably-priced ticketed event, kids 16 and under FREE. In 2018, OFOAM will present The HillBenders.
Please consider giving us your donation of support to keep the arts alive and well in Ogden and in Utah!
