The Ohio Bird Sanctuary is a place for everyone! We are a place for school children to learn about the complexities of nature, a place for families to spend time in the out of doors, a place you can find assistance for injured or orphaned birds, and a place to recover-refuel-relax.

2021 has been an exciting year at OBS! We completed the construction of a wheelchair accessible treehouse-classroom, treated over six hundred birds, served a record number of visitors, and doubled our number of summer kid's camps. It is because of the support of our members, donors, and the local community that we can grow and provide these valuable services. This year, we are asking you to support the Sanctuary through Richland Gives by choosing one of our three areas of focus and giving during a certain hour. By giving during these designated times, you help us win additional prize money from the Richland County Foundation by achieving the largest number of donors during that hour. The designated hours of giving are: 9:00-10:00am, 11:00am-12:00pm, 4:00-5:00pm.

If you are able, and the Sanctuary is important to you, please consider contributing. Below are suggestions, but any size gift will have influence in supporting our mission.

  • $75 provides food for one month for Winnie the Screech-Owl.
  • $150 covers the cost to rehabilitate one small raptor or 10 nests of songbirds.
  • $500 provides veterinary care for an injured hawk.
  • $1,500 provides food for one month for our resident eagles.

  • Craft & Activity Supplies: A gift of $25 helps purchase new craft and activity supplies for camps and in-school programs
  • Ashley Cooperrider Scholarship: A gift of $150 sends a deserving child to Nature Camp for learning and outdoor fun.
  • Junior Naturalist Field Experiences: A donation of $250 sponsors a field trip for youth 13-17 years of age
  • New Binoculars: A gift of $500 provides new binoculars for our on-site programs

The Sanctuary is a rare gem providing nesting habitat for over 75 species of birds as well as habitat for rare plants and animals. Any size gift will help us protect and care for the trails, streams, and grounds.

Gifts are tax deductible and provide important resources to operate the Sanctuary’s rehabilitation services and management of the nature preserve and living bird museum.
