Olney Theatre Corporation

The Olney Theatre Center was founded in 1938 as a summer stock venue.  Over the years, Olney saw such celebrities as Roger Bart, Sir Ian McKellan, Carol Channing, Tallulah Bankhead, Marcia Gay Harden, and many others, begin their acting careers. 

In 1949, Olney's touring company, The National Players, was founded.  Since, the company has toured all fifty states, bringing Shakespeare and other revitalized classics into schools and providing other eductional programs.  The National Players are currently on their 63rd tour.

Olney Theatre Center has a long-standing history within our community.  Since our days as a summer stock theatre, Olney has grown to a four-venue performance campus and now provides year-long performance seasons.  Olney takes pride in how far the organization has come, and looks forward to enriching the artistic, educational, and cultural community in the future.
