Olympic View Community Foundation

A nonprofit organization

Olympic View Community Foundation improves the quality of life in our community by connecting people who care with causes that matter.   To accomplish our mission we offer a unique complement of services to the community, to donors and to nonprofit organizations.

Community Grants support a broad range of local causes, from food programs, youth and education, environment and conservation, to the arts, animal welfare, civic projects, etc.  In 2019 our grantmaking focused on excellence in collaborative efforts between nonprofits and other community groups.

Donor Services  We’re committed to building a vibrant, compassionate and engaged community by helping donors identify and support local programs they feel passionate about.  Donor services include establishing donor-advised and scholarship funds, managing planned gifts, providing legacy consultations, and providing avenues for donors to participate in community solutions. In 2019, we added three new scholarships: Mac Ruddell Community Fund, Michael Sindars Memorial Scholarship Fund, and the Sequim Prairie Nights Vocational Ed Scholarship Fund.

Nonprofit Services OVCF goes beyond grant making to strengthen local nonprofits.  Clallam Gives is just one example. We also coordinate the Olympic Peninsula Nonprofit Alliance (OPNA), which provides education, trainings, networking activities and other resources to build the capacity of the Clallam County nonprofit sector, benefitting us all.

There are many worthwhile charitable projects in our community that do not have tax-exempt status, limiting their ability to raise funds. Fiscal sponsorship allows such projects to operate under OVCF’S  501(c)(3). These groups operate under our 501(c)(3) in a legal, IRS-approved arrangement that allows individuals to make tax-deductible donations to support these new projects established in 2019:

  • Sequim Prairie Nights Car Show, creates scholarships for high school graduates headed toward careers in the automotive, computer science, or construction trades
  • Friends of CASA
  •  providing for unmet needs of children in foster care
  • Sequim Health & Housing Collaborative, eight Clallam County organizations providing solutions to homelessness
