Omulu Capoeira Group was founded by world-renowned Mestre Preguiça in 1984 in San Francisco, CA, USA. Once the group was established to a full functioning organization providing communities with enrichment programs through Capoeira, Mestre Preguiça and his group leaders registered the group as a nonprofit organization in 1986 enabling the group's mission/vision to further develop into fruition.

Omulu Capoeira Group has been outreaching to surrounding Bay Area communities through the art of Capoeira with a particular focus on enriching the lives of youth. With disciplined training, focus on fitness and health, awareness to one’s surroundings, gang and drug prevention, hundreds of youth have been successfully guided towards a positive change in their life. Such influences have translated into positive attitude adjustments at home and in school, improvement in grades, growth in self-confidence, respect for others and self. Over the years many youth have grown into adulthood to successfully complete a college education and/or begin healthy families of their own as well as living productive and responsible lives. Some of these youth have also become successful leaders of the organization where they in turn give back to the communities to which they have come from.

Omulu Capoeira Group expanded its' outreaching services to the Oakland communities in 1993, established by the late Mestre Carlos Aceituno. Mestre Aceituno was a loyal and dedicated student of Mestre Preguiça who was himself a pivitol leader in the organization and abroad. In 2006, following the passing of Mestre Carlos Aceituno, the program was succeeded by his own loyal and dedicated student, Instrutor Busca Hé (Anthony Fidel). At the time Instrutor Busca Hé was a full time student on a successful path towards earning two bachelors degrees, Kinesiology and Nursing. In 2012, Instrutor Busca Hé expanded the program using personal funds for remodeling the business office and purchasing needed supplies and equipment for the Capoeira enrichment program.

Omulu Capoeira Group provides low cost training to youth and adults in Oakland, CA. The youth program is subsidized to increase access to the surrounding communities three days a week at convenient times year round (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 5p – 6p). The overhead of running this program is subsidized through revenues generated from the discounted adult program and directly from Instrutor Busca Hé's personal funds. Instrutor Busca Hé accepts no teaching salary. He donates his time to the program in order to ensure continued success of the outreach program.
