On Lok Day Services

A nonprofit organization

In 1977, the 30th Street Senior Center (On Lok Day Services) set up programs to target the minority underserved Latino senior community, and grew from small beginnings to a place with comprehensive whole person approach programs.

For 35 years now, 30th Street Senior Center has been a leader in serving San Francisco’s low-income, culturally diverse elders, with innovative programs that emphasize healthy aging, creativity and community. The seniors vary in health, from very active (including newly retired baby boomers) to quite frail. We offer programs designed to support the independence and wellness of seniors and help them live in their homes for as long as possible. For many years now, we have been dedicated to improving access to services for LGBT seniors. Nomatter what background or languange a senior speaks, everyone is welcome at the Center!

The Center strives to provide culturally and linguistically appropriate services. To accommodate the majority of participants at our Center, who remain Latino, we ensure that the majority of staff is bicultural and bilingual in Spanish and English. Because of the changing demographics, more Asian seniors use our services. Many of our volunteers and instructors are bilingual.
