On the Road Collaborative

On the Road Collaborative is a 501c3 youth empowerment organization that is committed to ensuring every child has a champion and is on the road to college, career and fulfill their promise.  We work to close the 'opportunity gap' that exists for youth on the margins, especially those coming from low-income families, and empower them with an entire pathway of opportunity and support throughout middle school to high school graduation (and beyond).

Our community-wide approach to change is centered on: 1) out-of-school learning; 2) parent partnership; 3) advocacy; 4) innovation & impact.  

The core of our work is delivering an impactful out-of-school learning program that connects middle school youth with a network of caring adult mentors and provides the academic coaching, leadership development and college/career learning experiences that help the strongest students excel. 

Since January 2011, under the name Beyond the Bell, we have served 1,000 youth in the Harrisonburg City Public Schools (VA), and look to launch our renewed program in September 2015 and continue our broader efforts of promoting and advocating for an inclusive, just and equitable educational experience for all.
