The underlying philosophy of our 100+ voice chorus is that singing in a group builds community and leads to better understanding among people. The chorus attracts singers from the widest possible range of races, cultures, creeds and communities. Our philosophy is that the world would be a better place if everyone sang - that’s why we have no auditions. Everyone is welcome - experienced and inexperienced singers alike. We have twice sung to an audience of over 500 at the Palladium Theater and we were recently honored with a Best of the Bay Award for "Best Voices Raised in Song."  We are fortunate to be able to rehearse at the Dr. Carter G. Woodson African American History Museum in St. Petersburg where we had our first rehearsal back in October 2016.

The group is led by Jon Arterton who holds a Master's Degree in Choral Conducting from The New England Conservatory of Music in Boston and an MFA in Acting from Smith College. He was the founder and musical arranger of The Flirtations, the a cappella singing group seen in the film Philadelphia and on HBO, Good Morning America and MTV. In 2002 he founded and conducted the 150-voice Outer Cape Chorale, a community chorus based in Provincetown, Massachusetts. He moved to St. Petersburg in January 2016.
