One World Chorus

A nonprofit organization

1 World Chorus is committed to connecting and empowering children and communities around the world through music. Since 2009, more than 2500 students from the USA, Kenya, & Jamaica have participated in our FREE collaborative drumming, chorus, recording and band programs. We partner with Remo Drums, Martin Guitars, Guitar Center, and most recently Ziggy Marley's Tuff Gong Worldwide label on a ground breaking recording celebrating Bob Marley's 70th Birthday. Although our reach is international in scope, we have a special interest in serving the children of Oregon, as Portland has been our headquarters since 2011.  In 2013 we launched the Rox in Sox Children’s Music & Book Festival as our annual local charity event. During this free family festival award winning children’s music performers and authors entertain families from the Portland Metro area. In addition to the celebration of children’s music & literature our guests donate socks & books at the entrance of Rox in Sox for children who need them around the world. Since 2013 we have distributed 3205 pairs of socks and 1519 pairs of books to children in Oregon, Kenya & Jamaica. Our most recent in-school residency involved 3 public schools:  Oregon Trail Academy based in rural Boring, OR, King Elementary in urban NE Portland, Southwest Charter School in the developing South Waterfront community. All students were taught the same songs for a 12-week residency and then brought together for a culminating performance. 170 students and more than 600 families from the community attended our spring concert on December 3,2015.
