Open Hearts and Homes for Children

Open Hearts and Homes for Children (OHHC) is a non-profit Christian organization consisting of volunteers who have been touched by the plight of children growing up in institutions in Eastern Europe. OHHC provides institutionalized children with a unique experience to share the love and life of a Christian family, enjoy recreational and cultural activities, and make long term caring relationships.  Approved host families open their homes to a child for a 3-4 week stay, immersing them in American culture and Christ's love.  For many of the children, it is the first time they have experienced a functional, loving family.  It costs $2800 to host a child, which host families commit to fundraise or pay to cover the child's travel expenses, insurance and chaperone expenses.  The benefits that the children - and host families - receive are priceless.
