Open Hands Legal Services Inc

The mission of Open Hands Legal Services, Inc. is to faithfully respond to God’s call to seek justice and defend the rights of the poor by providing legal services and counseling to the poor and indigent in New York City.

Open Hands strives to achieve our mission by partnering with established community-based organizations who are already serving the non-legal needs of the poor, and making legal counseling services available as well. Through these partnerships with soup kitchens, food pantries and homeless shelters, and other service providers to low-income communities, we are making legal assistance accessible to individuals at community institutions with which they are already familiar, which allows us to develop stronger and more consistent relationships with the individuals we serve. Faithful execution of our mission positively impacts New York City by delivering much-needed legal services to those who lack them, while creating an opportunity for Christians in legal and other professions to serve their neighbors in a holistic environment in which the gospel message can be openly shared.
