Opening Doors To Youth

 “Resiliency. Connection. Growth.”

The mission of Opening Doors for Youth (ODY) is to provide and support stable, caring and positive housing for Unaccompanied Homeless Youth in Sequim School District as they transition into adulthood. ODY will provide options and facilitate opportunities to house the youth, access and mobility of resources as well as on-going, quality assistance to promote the health of the youth; emotionally, physically, academically and financially.

We will fill this gap in our Community by using the Host Home Model. Youth will work with a qualified Youth Advocate to address and eliminate barriers that infringe the ability of the youth to not just survive, but thrive. The critical service is placing the Youth with thoroughly vetted, matched Host Home Families who have agreed, been trained and are positively engaged in the holistic well-being of the youth and their future. The Youth is an active participant in this process and relationship-building as both the Youth, the Host Family, stakeholders and providers wrap-around the youth in their individualized action plan to success.

Host Homes is a burgeoning program in the United States, that manifested out of the growing and tragic rise in Youth and Young Adult homelessness. This program involves extensive training, legal processes and verifications to ensure the safety and success of the Youth while placed in a Host Home. ODY is still in its founding stages and is under fiscal sponsorship of Olympic View Community Foundation while the process and planning to independent 501(c)3 status is completed. We hope that you can help us in the creative and successful endeavor to better serve our Youth.
