Operation Paws for Homes

Annually, Operation Paws for Homes rescues an average of 1,000 dogs from high-kill shelters in the southern region of the United States. Since our founding in 2010, we're proud to have rescued over 6,800 dogs.  

Your donation will allow us to save potentially hundreds more sick and injured animals.

OPH is a501(c)(3) organization that is 100% donation funded.  We receive no funding from federal, state or county governments.  As a result, we rely on the generous donations from the public and our adoption service donations in order to save the dogs in need that join our rescue organization.

Spring is in the air, and so are the dreams of countless furry friends waiting for their forever homes! Imagine a world where every cat and dog has a comfy couch, a warm bed, and a human to shower them with love – that's the dream we're chasing! Spring2ACTion is an online day of giving to support nonprofits like Operation Paws for Homes. Our mission is to create a better world for companion animals and the community through rescue, rehabilitation, education, spay/neuter aned providing resources to underserved populations.

In 2024, OPH rescued just under 1,000 dogs and almost 200 cats! We also funded 188 spay/neuter procedures in communities of need and donated more than 12,500 pounds of pet food to our partner shelters! Our secret? Foster homes, where tails wag, purrs echo, and dreams come true. These homes provide a haven for those who need a second chance, a soft spot to land, and maybe even a sneak peek at the occasional Netflix binge.

We don't do it alone....we can't do it alone. That's where you come in. By "springing 2 action," you're helping us save an animal that might not otherwise make it our of a shelter alive. You're helping us provide the care these animals need, such as necessary vaccinations, preventatives, and proper nutrition, once we transport them to safety. And, ultimately, you're helping us find that match that completes a family and gives a rescue animal a new lease on life.

Who We Are

Operation Paws for Homes (OPH) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization devoted to the rescue, rehabilitation and placement of dogs. Dogs are rescued from rural, overcrowded shelters in South Carolina, North Carolina and southern Virginia. These shelters are faced with daily and constant challenges - few adopters, underdeveloped spay/neuter programs in their counties and, in many instances, a lack of public education around spay/neuter programs. With limited resources, the shelters are forced to put down 50% to 90% of their dogs without rescue intervention.

Volunteer-powered by a dedicated group of animal lovers, OPH provides a holistic model to rescue, providing services such as education and outreach, professional dog training, counseling and medical assistance. Additionally, they partner with organizations who train their rescued dogs to become service, police and working dogs, such as mine detection and bomb sniffing dogs.

Spring2ACTion is an online day of giving that supports sustaining and strengthening nonprofit organizations through story. Not only does OPH have a story, but every four-legged friend and the humans that love them do too. The mission of OPH is to rescue dogs and cats in need, but on this Spring2ACTion giving day, we peek in to some incredible life-changing stories, that prove we are really meant to rescue each other. Over the last year, our furry family members have sustained us as we became isolated and our lives were turned upside down. Plans were cancelled, visits were put off, dreams were delayed; yet our loneliness was eased by the press of a cold wet nose or a warm furry body on our lap. Adoptions across the nation rose, including in OPH, and more people than ever found joy and comfort in their pet companions...
