Testimonials

"Before coming to SafeHouse My life was a mess and out of control. I am 17 years old and short on my school credits, but today I am back in school looking towards graduation. SafeHouse of the Desert helped me find myself. I was lost sprung out on drugs doing things that I would not do today. SafeHouse helped me realize that drugs are not the solution for every problem that I come across. I now can deal with my problems in a different way instead of using drugs. SafeHouse has showed me how to cope and deal with my problems instead of keeping them bottled up inside. Keeping my problems inside kept; me messed up and had me using drugs such as; marijuana, methamphetamines and alcohol to deal with those issues. SafeHouse has helped me to create a healthy relationship with my dad because what was once a constant fight all the time has now become a conversation of him being proud of me. Now I am trying to do well and stay away from trouble. Today my family is proud of my accomplishments and me." Anthony

"I am 21 years old. I have two beautiful children named Michelle 5 years and David 12 months. I came to Harrison House to help me put my life back together after living most of my life as a prostitute. I was pregnant with my second child whose father was my pimp. I was so lost and confused about where to start in a normal life, I didn't have very many family or friends that I could turn to to ask for guidance. A former friend who I met in the lifestyle had already become a Harrison House resident and knew of my situation and thought it would help me get stable. I applied, got an interview, and was accepted. Since living at Harrison House I've accomplished so much. I started my GED, got my drivers permit, saved more than 2,000 dollars, gained work experience, got jobs, cleared my warrants, found a two bedroom apartment, became a better mother, an most important I found my inner peace for which I've been in searching for some time now. I can't say exactly where I would've been without the help of Harrison House and its staff, but I know for once I made a decision that I'm extremely proud of." Brandy
