Operation Troop Appreciation

A nonprofit organization

Operation Troop Appreciation's mission is to build and sustain the morale and well being of the military community, past and present, with the assurance that the American public supports and appreciates their selfless service and daily sacrifices.

Kristen Holloway, founder and President of Operation Troop Appreciation, embarked on a personal project in March 2004 to provide Under Armour® t-shirts to a local Pennsylvania National Guard platoon (1/107 FA, Alpha Company 759 MP) of 38 soldiers deployed in Iraq.
An overwhelmingly positive response from the soldiers, those who helped with the project and from family and friends proved to be the spark that gave birth to Operation Troop Appreciation. It only took a few months to grow this one simple project into a national organization; and on July 1, 2004, Operation Troop Appreciation was established as a Pennsylvania non-profit corporation, with federal 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status.
Since that time, hundreds of thousands of members of the military and veteran communities have received support from Operation Troop Appreciation. The generosity of private individuals, small business partnerships, and corporate sponsors, has enabled Operation Troop Appreciation to present a united front of appreciation to our American heroes.

Testimonials

Below are 2 examples of Veterans who have received help from OTA:

"Jim" is an Operation Iraqi Freedom Veteran who sustained injuries during an IED attack,
resulting in the amputation of his left leg below the knee and a traumatic brain injury. Coming
out of the military with a 100% disability rating, Jim had no home, and was dependent on his VA
pension to survive. With OTA's help, Jim has secured a lease on a home, received new beds for
himself and his daughter, and a Welcome Home Kit containing brand new essential kitchen
items, pots & pans, dishes, cookware, silverware, glasses, cleaning supplies, linens and small
appliances. Without this help, Jim would have had to spend hundreds of dollars on basic
necessities for his home.

"Noah" is an Operation Iraqi Freedom Veteran who sustained a traumatic brain injury during an
IED attack. He is also the father of 4 small children and struggled to support his family during
recovery. He is now enrolled in college and a "straight A" student, despite facing challenges as a
result of his injury. Noah received help from OTA in way of diaper service for his children,
transportation services to attend school, beds and a welcome home kit for his family.
