The children and the families served by Opportunity School benefit from the
high-quality early learning and support we’ve provided for more than 50 years! Serving families of young children is an investment in our future. "A Fireman's Tale" tells the story of a young man who attended Opportunity School and is making a difference in Amarillo as a public servant, husband and father. 

The unique learning environment, hands-on work with families as well as providing
referrals for services help to bring stability to families during challenging
times. Stability provides the very best learning environment for young
children and creates a strong foundation that pays off when they are adults.

Our vision is for a community where today’s young children become lifelong learners
and tomorrow’s responsible and contributing members of their families and
society.

Founded in 1969, Opportunity School provides high-quality educational programs for
low-income young children living in Amarillo, Texas. It is accredited by the
National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) which
emphasizes low children to adult ratios, age-appropriate curriculum and
meaningful interactions between child and adults. Since its inception, more
than 5,000 children and their families have benefited from Opportunity School’s
educational programs.

Our overall goal for the Panhandle Gives, is $250,000. Enrollment at Opportunity School has increased since opening our new Edwards Campus addition and we have a waiting list of nearly 100 children who are in need of early education. As a result, we are serving even more families than ever. Your support will help us:

1. Provide high quality early education to more than 200 children and their families with our unique two generational approach. Each year we provide nearly $100,000 in scholarships for families in need. Can you help us replenish our scholarship fund?


2. Help us retain our amazing teachers by giving them the support, training and important benefits so that they can stay in the early childhood education field. 


3. Provide rich learning environments filled with new experiences, books and learning materials as well as field trips to see our community.
