Optimist Club of Alexandria Foundation Inc

Thanks for all your support!! In addition to $180 in online donations, five additional donors gave $430 for a total of $610 to support young people in Alexandria.

Also, please continue to support City Kitchen.  This delightful restaurant at 330 S. Pickett Street, Alexandria, VA 22304, provides a percentage of the cost of your meal to the Optimist Club of Alexandria Foundation if you tell them you are there to support the Foundation.  

The Optimist Club of Alexandria was started 70 years ago to ensure that the city’s young people received recognition for their achievement, particularly in writing, public speaking, and music. Still active today, club members meet bi-weekly to honor Alexandria young people from TC Williams, GW Middle School, Hammond Middle School, and Jefferson Houston PreK-8 School. The club provides an opportunity for school administrators, teachers and parents to acknowledge student success and gives students a chance to enjoy an elegant meal with influential community-minded adults.  This is an experience that stays with them for years to come.  Student honorees are often invited back throughout college, graduate school, and well into their adult years.  Club members are always happy to see them and have lots of questions about their lives. 

 The Optimist Club of Alexandria Foundation, our 501 (c) 3, allows the club to give honoraria to students, help fund a scholarship, and make donations to Alexandria non-profits whose students we honor.Your donation goes a long way!  Your donation to the Optimist Club of Alexandria Foundation helps the club provide student honoraria and donations to all of the following:

• TC Williams International Academy
• TC Williams High School Vocational Education
• TC Williams High School ROTC
• Middle and High School Music Programs
• High School Oratorical and Essay Contests
• Scholarship Fund of Alexandria, Achieving the Dream Scholarship support
• Alexandria Police Youth Camp
• Healthy Families

 The Optimist Club of Alexandria also participates in fundraisers with the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, has members from the Retired Teacher Association, and has members who have been recognized as Living Legends of Alexandria.
