New Horizons’ ever-expanding programs and vital services evolve from our unwavering mission: to enable older adults to live independently in their own homes, form meaningful connections with others, and engage in lifelong learning.

New Horizons continues to make great strides in preparing for what is referred to as the ‘Silver Tsunami’ – a tidal wave of baby boomers who are making their way to our doorstep. By 2020, 1 in 4 of all adults in Montgomery County will be over 55.

In six years our membership has doubled and our utilization has tripled!

New Horizons’ rich and varied programs fit into four broad categories (Recreation & Socialization, Education, Health & Wellness, and Supportive Services) and are carefully designed to foster all aspects of wellness and to meet the needs and interests of local seniors. We are proud to have helped area seniors to age in place by providing a nurturing environment and stimulating programs for seniors for over four  decades, transforming countless lives.

New Horizons has a unique and successful volunteer-led program model that meets the needs of two generations of seniors. The number of volunteers we “serve” has doubled in the last five years. We have come to understand that for younger seniors—now specifically Boomers, volunteering for New Horizons is their entrée to what has led to for many a decades-long involvement--first teaching, helping others, finding meaning and purpose in retirement, and then staying involved as a participant in a community that sustains them and helps them to age in place. New Horizons has seen this cycle take place countless times.
