Oregon Community Warehouse Inc

Community Warehouse is the only furniture bank serving Oregon and Southwest Washington that collects and redistributes donated household furnishings to neighbors in need. Our mission is to help vulnerable populations improve the quality of their lives and become self-sufficient by providing them with basic household furnishings.

The Warehouse helps underserved families with beds to sleep in, tables and chairs, cookware, dishes to serve a family meal, and other essential household items to help them set up a functional home. We depend on in-kind donations for inventory, so we are reusing resources already present in the community.

By partnering with nearly 200 non-profit and social service agencies, we furnish homes for 50 families each week. Clients include victims of domestic violence, the elderly, individuals transitioning out of homelessness, veterans, and low-income families.

By putting used goods to good use every day, we make it possible for families to benefit from their neighbors' items that still have life to give. The ability to cook meals, eat together as a family at a kitchen table, and get a good night’s sleep on a bed with pillows and blankets all provide a step towards self-sufficiency.

Heather Green, an advocate at the Family Support & Connections Program speaks on behalf of her clients: “I cannot count on my hands the number of times the Community Warehouse has been a total asset to clients that I serve. The clients I work with are living below the poverty level and would have no way of securing basic household items if it wasn’t for the generosity of Community Warehouse. It is my hope that the Warehouse will keep touching the lives of Portland’s less fortunate for years to come.”
