9 donors

The Kicks for Kids program is student-run (with minimal teacher involvement) by high school seniors at Osbourn Park High School. The primary goal is to collect kids’ sized shoes and donations to purchase other items of need (usually winter coats and lice kits), while exploring the political process and how to affect change in our community.  In addition to running the shoe and donation drive, the high school students divide into committees and investigate the issue of poverty and/or the project from various angles (the committees: education, government, communications, business outreach, historian).

The shoes and money will be donated to students at West Gate and Yorkshire Elementary Schools, two of the most economically disadvantaged schools in the Prince William County area. In the 2010-2011 school profile for West Gate 85% of their students were considered economically disadvantaged, while in Yorkshire’s 2010-2011 school profile 75% of the students met that same standard.

This year, the Class of 2013 has set an extremely ambitious goal of collecting over 400 pairs of new and gently used kids shoes, and over $3000, so we are grateful for your help!
