Our Pack's mission is to promote compassion and kindness toward pit bulls and chihuahuas. We do this by rescuing dogs from overcrowded shelters, educating the public about pit bulls and chihuahuas as wonderful pets, and facilitating the lifelong bond between dogs and their people through training and education. We also offer training for dogs in shelters and foster homes.
Through our community outreach, education and training programs we serve as a resource to the public, along with our shelter partners, to decrease the number of dogs needing rescue in the first place, and to help keep dogs in their homes.
2017 has been another great year at Our Pack! In fact, it’s our 10th year as a 501c3 non-profit! And, we have so much to tell you! We’ve been working very hard, tirelessly helping to save not only animals, but to also assist their families as much as we can throughout the year by offering many services to help dogs stay IN their home and OUT of the shelters through education, training, free spay/neuter and rescue. We’d like to keep from having to rescue from shelters to begin with and below we’ll show you how.
Free Spay/Neuter & Training Tips Save Lives!
Our Pack provides free spay/neuter for the homeless and the general public, saving lives due to the fact that many dogs don’t enter local shelters in the first place. Additionally, one common reason for dogs being surrendered to shelters is that owners sometimes don’t understand their behavior. Maybe they have a “teenager” or a jumpy dog that they have a hard time managing. We help by giving the family tools for working with their dog – this way, he stays home! Suki, was one of these dogs, taken in from a very neglectful situation by a good Samaritan. She wasn’t sure how things would go with her own dogs taking Suki into her home. Well, guess what? She kept Suki as her own! Our Pack gave her some training advice about Suki and her own dogs which facilitated a happy multi-dog home for our Good Sam. And the free spay sealed the deal for Suki and her new owner. A win-win for all. We have saved many lives doing exactly this!
We could not help these animals without your support.
Your love and support has also helped us help dogs like Ava.
Ava had a horrible, painful case of Demodex mange. Our Pack rescued her from our local shelter then treated her for this miserable illness. She made a full recovery!
She’s now home with wonderful people who love her, and she’s as beautiful and healthy as ever. We are also providing free training support for her family for the rest of her life. This way we help to facilitate a successful adoption, forever.
There are many, many stories just like these to tell, too many to list here, but there is another story as well as an announcement we want to tell you about. Our Pack is not only still servicing the South Bay Area of California but also helping in the Central Valley. Los Banos is a new additional Our Pack hub and we are beginning our relationship with the local shelter there to do as we’ve done in the past for Bay Area shelters. We will also be providing shelter support beginning in December with our first Our Pack/Los Banos Animal Shelter Orientation. We’ve already begun assisting Los Banos with post adoption support and spay/neuter if needed.
Spencer had come to the Los Banos Animal Shelter as he had escaped from his home numerous times. His owner was not well and could not provide the training and management needed to keep him home. We helped the shelter by promoting Spencer and offered free training for him via Our Pack. A wonderful owner came forward and we gave daily training advice to help keep the same issues from arising that landed him in the shelter previously. Today, Spencer is home to stay with a loving, caring owner. Partnering with shelters is key as it takes a village to save lives and we have heartfelt connections all throughout the community!
Keeping pets and their owners together and preventing them from entering shelters is our specialty, and what truly sets us apart from other groups.
We’re committed. We want to help. We can’t do it alone. Will you step up to the plate and support what we do? Every single dollar counts. Every animal counts. Give NOW to help dogs like Suki, Ava, Spencer and support us in helping so many more.
