Our Lady's School

Our Lady’s School is San Diego’s oldest Catholic elementary school for age 4 through 8th grade.  We are dedicated to providing a quality education for all students within our community. All of our students come from the historically underserved and predominantly low-income, first-generation neighborhoods of Barrio Logan and Sherman Heights just East of downtown in the shadows of Petco Park. We aim to uplift our students by offering them greater access to academic opportunities that would otherwise not be available to them. Our mission is to foster academic excellence, social responsibility, and spiritual growth while celebrating diversity and empowering students to uplift their communities. Together, we build a brighter future, one student at a time.

Our Lady’s School is a special place. I’m a proud alumni and also a proud parent of a current student. Four generations of my family have been a part of the OLS family dating back to the 1940’s. I have the fondest memories attending and I remain best friends with so many of my classmates. One of my classmates/best friends and I are Godfather’s to our sons and they are in the same class and also best friends; that’s just special. The connection of two beautiful parishes and communities is also unlike any other school in the Diocese of San Diego. Whether it’s at work, in the community or just out and about on a regular day I often find myself talking about Our Lady’s to just an acquaintance. There is a strong sense of pride to be part of the OLS community not only for myself but also I see it in my son. He reminds me a lot of myself in that he loves OLS with all his heart.

I want to end with how OLS strives to continue to impact the communities of Sherman Heights and Logan Heights. I grew up in a single parent household. My mother worked 3 jobs to send my siblings and I to receive a Catholic education. With the rise of prices on just about everything, OLS strives to keep tuition affordable. While understanding it’s going to be a sacrifice and that there might be challenges OLS offers assistance to families that might not be able to pay. I’ve made it my mission to not only keep OLS thriving but to also help through fundraising efforts so it can directly support its students. Lastly OLS is a family. This OLS family goal is to get every student to the next level of higher education, celebrate faith and culture and help them utilize their God given talents.
