Addiction treats women differently. Women with substance use disorders are more likely to have experienced trauma, such as sexual assault or partner violence. The disease progresses more quickly in women, and they are often unable to get help because of shame, family responsibilities, or financial difficulties.
Your gift on Critical Needs Alert #ONEDAY gives a woman the chance to choose gender-specific, trauma-informed addiction treatment, regardless of her ability to pay.
POWER offers a full range of gender-responsive, trauma-sensitive treatment and support services for women in recovery. We believe that empowering women leads to lives worth living, healthy families, and strong communities. POWER provides 1,500 people each year with the help they need when they need it the most.
Our continuum of care includes a 21-bed detox and rehab program at POWER Restore, residential treatment at POWER House, intensive outpatient therapy at POWER New Day, and recovery support and peer mentoring through POWER Connection.
"I always thought I was a bad person trying to get good, but now I know through POWER that I was just a sick person trying to get well. And once I learned that, it was so easy to love myself and to forgive myself." - Peggy
"I had to relearn how to live in the real world. My mentor helped me create the foundation that saved my life." - Yvonne
