Pittsburgh Theological Seminary prepares women and men for ministries in established and emerging Christian communities around the world. Rooted in the Reformed tradition and with a centuries-old history of mission and scholarship in service of the church, the Seminary is committed to relationships of mutual learning and serving with Christ-followers from other traditions and theological viewpoints. Our faculty and educational resources cultivate theologically reflective and contextually engaged Christian leaders. Our programs nurture vocational formation for bearing witness to the gospel of Jesus Christ.
A diverse community of faith and learning, we are committed to serving the church as a leading resource for collaborative participation in God's work of tearing down walls that divide. This ecumenical mission includes creating new partnerships with churches, universities, and individuals both locally and internationally. Our shared commitments as the Body of Christ include seeking God's justice and peace, bearing witness to the love and mercy made known in Jesus, and listening for the voice of the Spirit in all we do.
The Seminary's degree programs include Master of Divinity; Master of Divinity with joint degrees in law, social work, and public policy; Master of Divinity with emphasis in church planting; Master of Divinity or Master of Arts with concentration in urban ministry; Master of Arts; Master of Arts in Theology and Ministry; Master of Arts in Theological Studies; Master of Theology; and Doctor of Ministry with focus areas including Urban Change, Missional Leadership, Parish, Reformed, Eastern Christian, Science and Theology, and Reformed Christian Spirituality. In addition to our degree programs, the Seminary's graduate certificates include Church Planting and Revitalization and Urban Ministry as well as a non-credit certificate in Spiritual Formation. Supporting the academics and offering further opportunities for students and the community are a number of resources and programs.
