The Issue

Human trafficking is a growing $150 billion a year business, enslaving over 21 million women, children and men in forced sexual and forced labor exploitation (ILO 2012, 2014).

The chance of becoming enslaved in developed countries is 1.5 per 1,000 inhabitants and more than twice as much in the Asia Pacific region.

Vietnam is one of the top source countries for cross-border trafficking victims.

Top destinations include China, Cambodia, Malaysia and Eastern Europe. In the United Kingdom, Vietnam is the number 1 origin of victims under 18 and number 2 for all age groups. Internal trafficking and male victims, especially in forced labor exploitation, is steadily increasing.

Despite increasing number of victims, there are still serious gaps in humanitarian, financial, and legal aid to trafficking victims. These service gaps abandon many trafficking survivors and increase their risks of being re-trafficked. According to Ministry of Public Security, 60% of all traffickers arrested are former trafficking victims.

Our Goal

To prevent the trafficking of youths

Our Approach

We break the cycle of human trafficking by investing comprehensively in at-risk youths to prevent trafficking before it starts and in survivors to build a new life.

In Vietnam, we work in the provinces bordering Cambodia, China and Laos.
