Palm Springs Dance Project

Dance,  it can free a soul, lift a spirit, tell our stories.     

*  It can set in motion a promising path for a youngster's future by increasing their emotional intelligence, comprehension, self-discipline, and social skills. 

*  It can help our seniors increase mobility and cognitive abilities while providing an enriching social outlet.

* It can bring a diverse community together, building tolerance through experiencing dance together, the energy and emotion that runs through it, and the resulting unspoken understanding. 

*Dance also conjures much joy and elation, a sense of well-being for those that participate, and that's why making dance more accessible, more equitably inclusive, and more abundant in our community is key to what we do.  

*  Our team is composed of visionaries and artists, volunteers, and collaborators who are the engine of all we do, and our donors, they are the blessed fuel that puts it all in motion!  In the spirit of Giving Tuesday we seek donations to fuel our 2024 community projects.  As much as we are committed, we can't do it without you. 

Your Contribution will provide needed funding to expand the impact of three key community programs this year

❤ Jan 2-12,  2024 -  "Hosting Arena Dances"  A professional dance company, travelling from Minneapolis, Arena Dances will be hosted by the Dance Project and creating professional works for the stage while in the desert region, culminating into a special "works-in-progress" presentation while here, and a special masterclass opportunity for local dance students.  Raising $975. for this project will cover studio rehearsals, venue rental, and a free masterclass for up to 40 local students.

❤ March 7, 2024 -  "Dancin' in the Streets"  Grants for Desert Hot Springs High School dance team,  the James O Jesse Drill and Percussion Team as well as for local Folklorico dancers, Hula dancers, and local youth participating in dance classes in the valley,  make participating in this diverse community event possible, no matter what your financial status, dance genre, or age.  This exciting street performance project  includes free training and a spectacular, free, 3 hour public presentation at VillageFest Palm Springs, where thousands will be astonished by the live show! Sponsored, in part, by a grant by the City of Palm Springs additional funding is needed to cover costs of instruction, dance studio rental and bussing.  More than 70 youth dancers from around the valley will converge to work with one another to create a cohesive show.   We are seeking an additional $1,050.00 for the 2024 program to help cover participation fees.

❤ May 20, 2024 -  Communities' Finest Dance Showcase  We are seeking support for this program to enable all its participants to be granted into this lively community theater presentation of contemporary and cultural dance.  In this program the objective is to create a very diverse and entertaining program, exposing participants to professional theater productions, and providing audiences the exposure to a wide variety of dance being created at the community level at incredibly low ticket prices, including free entry for young children and audience participation elements.  This is a feel good presentation and brings a diverse audience together, including lots of families.  We are seeking $2,475.00 to help  cover the cost of productions, enabling us to waive all participation fees.

We're different than a dance school or performance troupe. 

We are made of and for the desert communities, with the well-being and future of its residents being foremost in our mission.  We foster more inclusiveness and engagement in dance and the development of a network of collaborative individuals and organizations.  We create enriching dance events and training opportunities to bring about better health and well-being, and to affect social change.   We are constantly looking to make new friends, establish diverse collaborations, and grow our support base
