Palmer Museum of History and Art

A nonprofit organization

The Palmer Museum of History and Art serves as the historical and cultural hub for the city of Palmer, Alaska. It is dedicated to collecting, preserving, interpreting, and promoting the history and art of the Palmer region while providing various opportunities for residents and visitors alike that allow for a greater understanding of the region and its people. It operates out of a 1972 log cabin building that was never intended to be a museum.  Despite the hurdles the organization has to overcome with its facility, it still manages to serve its community through educational programming, exhibits, and events.

The organization receives its primary funding through the support of the City of Palmer which covers the basics like payroll, insurance and utilities.  All remaining funding to sustain their programs has to be raised by the organization.

The museum currently has plans to begin a traveling trunk program that will cater to remote schools and home-school programs who do not have the resources to visit the museum, develop an audio tour program and create an historical photography web-site that will provide user-friendly access to historical images of the region which up until now, has not been accessible on one cohesive site.

In order to successfully complete these projects and to continue serving the local community, the museum needs help.  All donations to the organization go directly back into projects like these and towards maintaining the museum's current historical exhibits and traveling exhibit program.
