Immigrants in deportation proceedings have avenues to lawful status and we're here to advocate for them through legal representation, community empowerment, and policy advocacy.

Pangea strives to build a community-based deportation defense model does more than provide high-quality representation. We lift up client stories to advocate for immigrant friendly policies on the local, state, and national levels. 

We further connect clients with community groups that empower them to become advocates, where they learn to share their stories at community rallies, with media, and elected officials. This allows them to make a bigger impact for their families and the community at large.

The case of Ernesto, a detained client, demonstrates the efficacy of our community-based deportation defense model. By linking his family with advocacy groups Pangea helped Ernesto reunite with his wife, his children, and his newborn granddaughter—just in time for Christmas. In less than a week, over 750 signatures were collected on a petition advocating for Ernesto’s release; the family spoke out at a community rally in front of ICE before various news outlets; and days later, the family and community leaders sat down with Sen. Feinstein’s office to share how family separation placed them on the brink of homelessness (the office later agreed to contact ICE and inquire about Ernesto’s case). In the process, Ernesto and his family were transformed into community leaders. Ernesto is now a regular at community events and has become a source of strength for other families experiencing family separation.

We envision a world where the fundamental right to move is respected and appreciated by all.  Our view is that all human beings are entitled to respect, documents, and a process through which to move, settle and resettle in the world.

 

OUR NAME: WHAT DOES "PANGEA" MEAN? 

Pangea was the name of the earth's original continent when it was one connected landmass.  For us, "Pangea" symbolizes the unity and oneness of our global community.    

 

OUR GOAL FOR MAY 5TH:  

Our goal for May 5th is to raise $10,000 to support our community lawyering work.  This will allow us to reach a greater population of immigrants like Ernesto and his family.  Please help us reach our goal by making a donation.
