Panhandle AIDS Support Organization

A nonprofit organization

PASO is a community-based organization that has been
supporting members of the Texas Panhandle since 1987. We provide emotional
and financial support to PLWH (people living with HIV) and their families, and
educational opportunities to all residents in the Texas Panhandle.

With a case management system that connects PLWH to doctors, dentists,
optometrists, and counselors, PASO also provides financial support for medical
appointments, transportation to and from medical appointments, housing and
utilities, HIV medication, dental care, nutritional food, and more. We
even host an annual Children’s Christmas program for our clients who have kids.
All these services are available to PLWH in the Texas Panhandle regardless of
ability to pay and without stigma or discrimination.

Educational opportunities include in-house HIV programs, and an annual HIV/AIDS
Symposium through collaboration with the Amarillo College Center for Continuing
Healthcare Education and the South Central AIDS Education and Training Centers.
PASO also appears at many of our local health and mental care fairs, as well as
community events. PASO also offers educational programs tailored to the needs
of your community group.

Funding for PASO comes from state and federal grant funds, private foundations,
and local contributions. Every dollar granted or donated stays in the Texas
Panhandle! Here are a few examples of what your donation could fund:

  • $95
can fund a trip to the grocery store for healthy food

  • $238
sends one uninsured PASO client to the doctor for their annual HIV check-up

  • $390
can help with 6 hours of mental health counseling

  • $580
is about the cost of 4 months of HIV medication for someone with
insurance. Without insurance, it’s around $4K for only one month
