Mission

Para Los Niños offers impoverished families a continuum of care, providing each age group we serve with programs specifically tailored to the developmental stages of the children and the needs of their families.

Programs

Child Development Centers: Nine centers provide high quality care, education, and enrichment to over 700 children, ages 6 weeks to 5 years, in Los Angeles, South El Monte, and Ontario. Charter Elementary School: Para Los Niños opened a charter elementary school in September 2002, located at our Family Learning Complex in downtown Los Angeles. The school currently educates 320 students in 16 kindergarten through fifth grade classrooms. After-school Program: We provide educational activities and enrichment through two programs: a school-based program serving 1,600 elementary and middle school-aged children, ages 5 to 13, at twelve Los Angeles Unified School District elementary and middle school campuses, including our own Charter School; and a Youth Center, located in Downtown Los Angeles, serving 60 youth aged 11 to 18. Youth Workforce and Youth Development Services: Youth Workforce Services prepares youth in the East Los Angeles area for success in post-secondary education and the workforce. Youth Development Services, Para Los Niños? newest program, will assist 540 current and former foster youth during the coming year in attaining the education, skills and experiences necessary for a successful transition from out-of-home care to independent living. Family Services Program: In order to ensure that when our children and youth go home from our educational programs, their families are prepared to provide a healthy, nourishing environment at home, Para Los Niños has three Family Resource Centers providing immediate assistance and long-term case management to families in Pico-Union, South Los Angeles, and Ontario; Partnership for Families, serving fragile families with children ages zero to five; Family Preservation Services, serving families referred for reported maltreatment; and Mental Health Services, assisting children and families dealing with mental health issues arising from living in poverty.
