Parents and Children Advance Together Literacy Ministries (PCAT) is twenty years old! And we are expanding, in the fall we will be serving Kindergarten students at Sulphur Springs Elementary and Kindergarten through second grade students at Ruskin Elementary.  We will be increasing the number of children served from 60 to 130 with your help.

How are children selected for this intensive educational after school program? Teachers refer students who are reading below grade level and PCAT helps to improve their reading skills.

What do you provide to students? The after school program is provided four days a week and utilizes proven reading curricula and testing to guide individual educational plans for each student to address their unique needs.

What need are you addressing? The students at both schools served are scoring below grade level on reading assessments. Many students are not reading at all!

What Results has PCAT achieved? In the 2020-21 school year, 100% of the students completing the program were promoted to the next grade. In the 2021-22 school year the program served 54 students at Ruskin Elementary. 65% of first graders and 91% of kindergarten students completing the program improved their reading ability based on standardized test results. 90% of parents are engaged in the program to support their children. All of the children served are from economically disadvantaged families.

Please join our team! Please donate what you can to help students read!
