Paws 4 Life

Paws4Life is a Section 501(c)(3) tax-exempt public charity that is devoted to saving the lives of homeless and abandoned pets impounded at public animal shelters in the South. We are staffed entirely by a dedicated group of uncompensated volunteers.

We fulfill our mission by transporting and coordinating the transportation of adoptable dogs and cats from overcrowded public animal shelters in the South to animal rescue organizations located throughout the 48 contiguous United States. Since our founding in 2016, we have worked with ten public shelters in Louisiana and Texas, and with more than 150 rescue organizations located in 31 states. 

We've transported more than 10,000 pets directly to rescues in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin, and we've coordinated the transportation of several hundred animals by air and over the roadways to rescues in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Virginia, Vermont and Washington. Altogether, we've been able to save more than 10,000 pets from euthanasia through these efforts (the most memorable of which was a cute little pig by the name of Lucy, who was transported during Hurricane Harvey). We began our work by identifying responsible and reputable rescue organizations located throughout the country that expressed a willingness to accept pets impounded at our regional public animal shelters. After developing relationships with these rescues, we identified specific dog and cats they were willing to accept, coordinated the transportation of these pets, and then transported them to the receiving facility, where they are typically adopted within 2 weeks.
