The issues of crime, drugs, lack of male role models, poor educational advancement, teen pregnancy and many other problems endemic to the inner city have all well been documented.

The initiative of Peninsula Sports Academy is to use the influence, and structure of organized sports as an innovative tool to foster mentor relationships with youth. We believe that when youth are connected to committed and caring adults who provide a community of accountability, tough love and support it severely reduces the influence of negative peer pressure that plagues the urban community.

Our vision is to minimize the trappings of these social ills and promote a new trend by positively impacting the lives of youth through sports, academic assistance, leadership development and character education. We seek to build the self-esteem and character of youth by providing an environment of caring adults who are committed to serving as coaches, mentors and tutors who all believe in At-risk youth. Our collective goal is to challenge kids to pursue success on and off the court and model a sense of responsibility to the pride of their families, peers, and community.

PSA will target youth within our neighboring cites within the bay area. Our emphasis is being placed on youth ages 8-16 because of the need for them to learn the benefits of discipline, commitment, and hard work in conjunction with a young person’s formative years of personal growth.

The Problem:

Youth who lacks the support and guidance of caring committed adults are more prone to make poor decisions and exhibit a lifestyle that lacks vision, discipline and self-control.

Our Solution:

Our mission is to serve our community by reaching and teaching our youth through sports and academic assistance. We promote positive self images by providing an environment of coaches, mentors and tutors who believe in At-risk youth. We encourage them to embrace the highest values and sense of responsibilities to their families, peers and communities. We invest in the mental, physical, financial and overall wellbeing to build stronger kids by reinforcing education.

"SOME people say that leaders are born, while others say they are made through life’s experiences. At PSA it won’t matter, our comprehensive programming focuses on the personal development of the whole student athlete and encourages growth in the critical areas that will help each student excel in the classroom as well as on the court."
