Payette River Bicycle Movement

We moved to Valley County in 2010 and searched for a way to give back to the community we have grown to love.  We have two young kids and a passion for bikes and the outdoors!  We started Payette River Bicycle Movement (PRBM) in late 2013.  We received our 501(c)(3) status in August 2014. 

Our main and immediate focus is our Wheels for Kids program.  We refurbish used and donated bikes and then provide these, along with a helmet, to kids whose families don't have the financial ability to do so.

Another area of focus is bike safety education for kids.  We have passed the first tier to becoming Licensed Cycling Instructors with the League of American Bicyclists. 

We have worked closely with local elementary schools to provide bikes and helmets, as well as offer bike safety checks, and provide instruction on trail mountain biking techniques, trail etiquette, and proper gear.  We  were very fortunate to meet some of the kids who received bikes.  What a great sight it was when they hopped on them for the first time!  An excerpt of a letter from their teacher reads, "Thank you again for changing the lives of our students.  Just yesterday K was riding his bike after school with his helmet on.  What a great sight it was.  We appreciate all you have done for us."  Over the past two years, we have refurbished and donated 11 bikes for fifth grade students through our partnership with Donnelly Elementary School.

Another close partner is Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.  For the past three years we have worked closely with them on their annual Christmas Drive and have refurbished and donated more than 55 bikes to local children.
