The mission of Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center (PCRC) is to foster collaborative engagement by bringing people together, facilitating conversation, and building these skills in our community.

Where it all began...
In 1986, the Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center began with a group of community members believing in the idea that neighbors could help neighbors resolve issues together. These community members believed that mediation could truly make a difference.

Almost 30 years later, this notion still holds true for the staff and partners of PCRC. In the years since PCRC began, our programs have expanded beyond mediation and our services have focused on the specifics of empowering youth, strengthening families, and engaging communities. Through programs and projects--like our revitalization of North B Street here in San Mateo, to our many Parent Project trainings across the county, to our ever-expanding youth programs--we focus on working with communities as a whole.

Celebrating the present...
This past year at PCRC, we worked hard to have a long list of projects and awards to celebrate. But here are a few we're most proud of...

In the spring of 2014, we hosted ADRx: Innovations in Reducing and Resolving Conflict in Our Communities and the Pacific Islander Violence Prevention Conference, both the first of their kind. These events were aimed at taking an innovative approach identifying and resolving conflict in our communities.

We were recognized as one of 23 finalists in the Building Vibrant Communities: Activating Empathy to create Change competition by Ashoka Changemakers and the David & Lucile Packard Foundation. Picked out of several hundred organizations, we will be attending a summit at the Lucile Packard Foundation focused on galvanizing a local movement around empathy.

We received the 2015 Mayor's Award by the City of San Mateo and the San Mateo Area Chamber of Commerce on our work on the revitalization of North B Street in Downtown San Mateo.
