Peninsula Food Runners Inc

Peninsula Food Runners is a volunteer organization dedicated to alleviating hunger  and reducing food waste in the San Mateo and Santa Clara counties.

Peninsula Food Runners (PFR) provides a free service to pick up excess perishable and prepared food from donors such as restaurants, caterers, bakeries, hospitals, event planners, corporate cafeterias, and hotels.  PFR Volunteers retrieves from donors and delivers it directly to shelters and neighborhood feeding programs and 100% affordable housing that feed the food insecure families, children and individuals.  

Our volunteers are presently delivering over 35,000 meals to people in need every week .  Hunger is an every day issue and our goal is to address it daily, not just for just during the holidays but throughout the year as well.  As of 2013, over 2.5 million pounds of food has been diverted from the landfills and over 2 million meals have be redistributed back into the communities.  We believe our impact is more meaningful if we are working as partners with all the feeding programs through out the year.  We welcome volunteers who are seeking inner satisfaction of knowing that their time (no more than 1 hour is required) is well spent feeding large group of people.  Furthermore, mother earth needs us to step up to protect our clean air and beautiful environment.  

Points to remember

This is a free service for our donors and recipients. We rely on our volunteers to help make this free food distribution a success.  We want to hire a part time driver to help pick up food runs that don't get picked up

Your contribution will help impact in the following areas:

1.  Increase our ability to retrieve more food donated to be expand the reach to those in need

2.  Allow Peninsula Food Runner to hire part time driver and be able to offer a competitive wage

3. Encourage donors to continue giving surplus food instead of throwing the food into the landfills
