Peoples Private Learning Center

Peoples Private Learning (PPL) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides math and reading support to students who historically have faced limited access to educational resources, opportunities, and support systems. PPL assists K-12 students in Charlotte and surrounding areas from marginalized or disadvantaged backgrounds that encounter various barriers that hinder their academic success.

The Problem

Our students face a daunting challenge: post-pandemic academic recovery, hindered by existing barriers and limited resources. The May 2022 CMS Board of Education results revealed that approximately 84% of Black and Hispanic students in Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District are not college and career-ready. This alarming statistic affects approximately 76,700 students, and puts them on a trajectory of downward mobility.

The Vision

In classrooms, many students struggle with foundational concepts while educators are faced with the challenge to teach current grade-level standards. We're here to help, partnering with administrators, parents, and teachers to ensure no child navigates their educational journey alone. Together, with nonprofit partners, we aim to enhance our impact, envisioning a future where every student has the  academic resources they need to succeed.
