PerformOUTKC

What an exciting time for PerformOUTKC in our first five years. We collaborated with many performing arts ensembles around Kansas City, participated in a host of LGBT group partnerships and were afforded a thrilling experience at the GALA Choruses Festival 2012 in Denver. Our young artists joined 6,000 delegates as we shared our voices with each other. For every one of our young artists, it was a life-changing experience.

This year we are excited to announce plans for the “the next 5” years. We’re elated to have Tim Braselton as our new artistic director who is exciting to plan programming for the next five years and will kick the season off with a youth version of a “Big Gay Sing” originated from the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus.  This year we are launching our first Instructional Fine Arts Summit. This will offer youth a monthly, day-long master class for acting, drama, creative movement, vocal coaching and much more. We’re also making an effort to become more youth-lead and have implemented a youth outreach intern program with a youth leadership council. It’s an exciting time for our organization, a time of growth and a time for young people to explore and discover, to celebrate and share.

PerformOUTKC was created for charitable and educational purposes for the young people of the Kansas City community. Too often, our young people do not have an individual or organization that will allow them to just be themselves. To counteract the rise in bullying and teen suicides, PerformOUTKC was created to reach out to young people to help them navigate through the challenges of adolescence. PerformOUTKC strives to let them know they are not alone, while giving them an avenue to share their feelings with others in the community.
