My name is John Vanover I am the Founder and Executive Director of the Pfc. Richard L. Vanover Veterans Village namesake is my father whom was raised in Letcher County Kentucky, he received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his wounds in the Korean war ;he was shot in the neck and crippled. The reason I am writing to you is to ask if you would consider getting involved with my organization to get public awareness for us. The Pfc. Richard L. Vanover Veterans Village, Inc. is to provide single senior veterans, male and female, 62 years of age or older, Vietnam era Korea that have no family or caretakers,or homeless an alternative to an assisted living facility at an income-based fee. The Pfc. Richard L. Vanover Veterans Village is committed to providing senior veterans a dignified place to call home in a family atmosphere. Three meals a day will be provided, and transportation will be available for appointments and recreational activities. The organization will rely heavily on private and corporate donations, fund-raisers and in-kind gifts and will not seek any government funding. The Veterans Village will strive to be self-sustaining by raising beef, poultry, eggs, meat and maintaining a community vegetable garden. The Veterans Village will initially include one duplex cabin and dining facility. Other cabins will be added as funding becomes available.
