Phelps Foundation

As a grassroots organization, The Phelps Foundation’s mission is to provide low-income rental housing to the chronically homeless and veteran communities in Detroit, MI.

Currently housing two families and working to grow that to eight, The Belmont project contains a total of 6 units, that will be rehabilitated to house homeless families within 8 months after funding.

Being Vietnam Veteran’s and recognizing a need in 1975 the Phelps family started renovating houses for struggling families.   In 2020 this evolved into providing low-income housing to the homeless communities.

Founded after having a lived experience of homelessness, as native Detroiters, we will continue to help and support the veteran and chronically homeless communities.
